Halfway there!

I'm so behind, blame it on the holidays! :) Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and will have a safe New Year. Ms. B (this is what we'll call baby girl for blog's sake) and I will be toasting the new year with some sparkling grape juice. :)
Anywho, we are more than halfway through the pregnancy!! It seems to be going by so fast now, she'll be here before we know it!
I'll catch you up on my belly pics:
19 wks

20 wks

21 weeks:

Last week I started feeling some movement from Ms. B :) She's not too active right now but I can definitely tell when she's awake!
According to the web she's already about 10.5 inches long and almost 1lb. We'll probably be able to get her actual stats at next week's appointment when we do the anatomy scan.

I'll update after next week's appointment...promise!

Boy or Girl?

We had our regular OB check up on Friday....also the gender reveal day! The Dr had us in suspense for a little while and then he started typing on the screen....G...I...R...L!!!!!! ☺
I had a feeling it was going to be a girl...I'm 2 for 2 now! ;) My IPs were beyond excited! I think my IF must have repeated "it's a girl" about 100 times, lol. It was a great appointment.
Afterward, my IPs had a present for the girls, Kevin & me. IM made some yummy homemade Indian food and the girls got some cute crafts to make and baking items. They've used almost all of the craft stuff already!

The appointment was such a highlight after a pretty rough couple of weeks for my IPs. I won't get into the details, but if you could just keep them in your prayers, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks!! ♥

Our next appointment is on January 6th; we will be having the big anatomy scan, which I love. It's an extra long ultrasound (about 30 minutes) that measures each part of the baby to make sure she's growing on track. I like being able to see how she's doing in there ☺ We might also be doing the hospital tour at that time, yay!! Time is flying!

Until next time, TTYL!

17 weeks!

Totally forgot to post last week...Ok, I was being lazy last week and didn't post because I had the whole week off of work and where do you think I create most of my posts?? Don't judge.

So here's my 16 week bump pic for your viewing pleasure:

So now we'll fast forward to week 17, yay! There's nothing terribly exciting going on this week, just growing a tiny human. ☺
I finally started feeling normal (as normal as can be for a pregnant woman) and can actually eat AND keep it down, milestone! I still have occasional heartburn/acid reflux, but it's not too bothersome. Seems now that I'm able to eat, that 'Baby D' has decided he/she would like to place an order every 3 hours! You'd think I hadn't eaten all day once that 3 hour mark hits from the last "feeding"...I will seriously go into hunter mode to find something to eat. Gonna have to get some healthy snacks at my desk. Ain't nobody got time for lookin' like a beached-whale this early on.

About Baby:
Week 17 baby fetus size apple
Fetus Size
Baby is about the size of an apple during week 17.

LENGTH: 5.25 in
WEIGHT: 5.04 oz
Baby's definitely growing and we can't wait until next Friday's appointment!! I still haven't felt any kicks or movement, hopefully soon. Well, I've felt little "flutters", but I don't know what to make of those. Could just be my nachos digesting. Just sayin'.

Until next time, peeps! TTYL!

15 weeks!

A what? I'm guessing that's bigger than a Roma tomato...whatevs. And why are all baby growth references in food terms anyway? Why can't it be "this week baby is as big as a light bulb...or a hairbrush....nevermind, guess that doesn't work either.
Anywho....we're 15 weeks now! ☺ I'm starting to feel a little less craptastic and more like my normal self....thank GAWD! Not quite 100%, but waaaay better than I have been. Right on time too 'cause I'm ready to eat a whole buncha Thanksgiving food! Mmm Mmmm! Pregnant woman's paradise...
Still experiencing heartburn/acid reflux, but I pop a few Tums religiously and they help.

Not much else to report on the preggo front...pretty boring stuff going on (which we like).

On another note, today is my IP's 14th anniversary! Also, my IM's birthday is on Saturday.♥ I hope they get to enjoy their day or maybe their weekend....because this time next year they'll be changing diapers and wiping up baby puke to celebrate! ☺

Until next time...TTYL!

"Hi Mom & Dad!"

I LOVE this u/s pic! Looks like baby is waving to mommy & daddy ♥
We had our 1st OB appt this morning! It was quick, but a good appointment. Everything looks great and Dr said just keep doing what I'm doing.☺ The parents were so excited! IM's face just lights up, I love it! We'll go back in 4 weeks, Dec 13th. (Hopefully we'll find out the baby's gender at that appointment!)

That's all for now. TTYL!

14 weeks!

I *might* be to the promise land, folks! I haven't puked in almost 24 hours...this is a big accomplishment! ☺ This morning is the 1st morning that I've felt semi-normal for more than 10 minutes (knock on wood!) I'm hoping this is a sign that the pukefest is soon-to-be over and I can resume life as a normal, craving everything, pregnant woman.
---My friend sent me this pregnancy calendar my Alpha Mom that is hilarious! It sounds like she must be reading my mind. Here's her take (and mine) on week 14:
"Ah, the second trimester. I love you so, second trimester. Even though I still have a few lone symptoms of misery that haven’t yet left me completely, I do remember the unadulterated joy that comes with suddenly realizing that you totally don’t feel like warmed-over ass 100% of the time! It’s only, like, 43% of the time now! Hooray! ‘Tis a pregnancy miracle." ♥ ♥ My thoughts exactly!

There does seem to be a little give and take here though...perhaps the puking has subsided, but now I have heartburn/indigestion. Joy. It's definitely no fun, but I'd rather have the heartburn.
Oh! There's one other thing I forgot to mention...it's kind of weird and freaks me out, but I seem to be producing more saliva than needed. Ewww, I know. For real though...I literally have to carry around a spit cup. (Apparently yet another side effect of pregnancy that I didn't know about) *Please let this end soon, too*

Anywho, enough of my weird pregnancy side effects; on to baby business! We have our 1st OB appointment on Friday and I can't wait! I'm not sure what all will be involved, but I imagine we will get an ultrasound done; I'm ready to see how much the little guy/girl has grown!
Apparently the baby is  the size of a lemon this week:
Week 14 baby fetus size lemon
LENGTH: 3.51 in / 8.92 cm
WEIGHT: 1.60 oz / 45.4 g

I tried to warn the OB's office that I'd be rollin' with an entourage to the appointment, but I don't think they quite understand. I've talked to 2 people there and told them that I'm a surrogate and they just kind of go silent or go "oh, uh huh, ok"...whatevs. Guess they'll see when I'm there with 3 other people!

I'll update you on Friday! Until then, I'll leave you with a belly pic (Well 2, cuz I forgot one last week!) TTYL!

13 weeks & a VERY special birthday!

13 weeks! We've made it to the 2nd trimester, yay!! Apparently this is the time when fatigue and nausea should be subsiding....we'll see about that. I'm sooooo ready to feel "normal" again. I know Kevin will be happy when I'm able to at least go grocery shopping; he's been doing all of my normal things around the house and although I kinda enjoy not having to venture out to the store every week, I'll be glad to take that off of his plate. ☺
This week 'Baby D' is the size of a plum! I'm ready for our 1st OB appt!!! It's not until the 15th and time seems to be moving so slow to get there!!! I just wanna check in on the little peanut and make sure everything is okay, which I'm sure all is well, but it's just nice to see on an ultrasound, ya know?
Week 13 baby fetus size plum

Your baby is about the size of a plum during week 13.

LENGTH: 3.0 in / 7.62 cm
WEIGHT: 0.9 oz / 25.5 g
So, in other exciting news...my 1st little surro guy turned 2 last month! Can you believe it???? I can't. He is so dang cute too! I didn't get to make it to his b-day party because of being so sick, didn't wanna be a party pooper (or party puker, in this case). I was bummed, especially when I saw all the cute pics; it looked like he had a great time!
As soon as this sickness is over with we'll be planning a trip to visit the little guy and his parents and I can't wait! I'm so, so grateful that they still keep me updated on how he's doing. I'm really lucky. I know a lot of other surros that don't even get so much as a 'thanks' after the baby arrives.

Until next time, I'll leave you with some serious cuteness and TTYL peeps!
Happy Halloween!

Happy 2nd b-day!! (Farm animal party theme)

Love ♥♥

Happy Halloween, 12 weeks & other stuff

Hey peeps! (I wrote this on Halloween, but got kinda busy...my bad!)
As I count down the minutes until I get a Snickers, I figured I'd update you! ☺

We are now 12 weeks....almost into the 2nd trimester. Thank goodness!! Hopefully the puke fest will end by then.
I don't have much to report on the baby front this week; probably won't until we have our 1st OB appointment, which is on November 15th....can't get here fast enough!!
As referenced above, I'm still feeling pretty sick, but I've had more moments when I feel at least semi-normal, so I'll take that when I can get it!
Still eating whatever will stay down and still pretty tired most days....
My latest cravings have been pancakes, pot roast, and pickles. I guess the letter of the week was 'P'.

I also attended a surrogate get-together this past Sunday. It was nice to see the other ladies; I love how friendships are formed through this journey. We went to Babe's Chicken (which is really yummy!)...perhaps I was being a bit ambitious, but dammit I'm tired of being cooped up and puking! I was doing fine until about 3 minutes after I was done eating....had to make a mad dash for the restroom. The food was good while it lasted :\
Lots of babies from this group of ladies! :)
As for baby, according to the world wide web, "Baby D" is the size of a lime....if only that were true for my tummy :\

Baby apricot

Happy 11 weeks!

Week 11 baby fetus size apricot
Fetus Size
Baby is about the size of a apricot during week 11.

LENGTH: 1.7 in / 4.3 cm
WEIGHT: 0.28 oz / 7.9 g

I'm sorry I forgot to update after our ultrasound on Friday! Won't happen again...maybe ☺
Anywho, all was well at the appointment. The little bean apricot was moving all around, it was so cool to see! What was even better was seeing the parent's reaction to watching their little one move around...No matter how many times I see an u/s, it's always like the first time, there's just something so awesome about them. It's a little bit of reassurance that everything is okay mixed with the awesomeness of a sneak peak of the amazing miracle that will be physically in mom & dad's arms soon.
I didn't get a pic this time, but there was a big difference from just 2 weeks ago when it looked like a little gummy bear...this time baby actually looked like a tiny human ☺ I was released to go to my regular OB now, woohoo! (This is a big milestone in surrogacy!) I'll see him in about 2-3 weeks...it's tricky getting an appointment that coordinates with both my and my IPs schedules, but we're making it work; I'm glad that they will be attending appointments with me.

Quick stats:

How I'm feeling: Same ol' same ol'...still puketastic and hoping to see the light at the end of that tunnel very soon!
It's also time to get some maternity clothes...so soon, I know. Whatevs.

What I eat: Anything that stays down! Fruit is starting to make me more & more queasy, so I stay away from it for now. Except applesauce, I love it...does that count as fruit?

Baby stats:

-The ears have started to move upward into their final position.

-The eyelids have been developing and are currently sealed closed. They will stay like this tell about the 26th week.

-The neck is lengthening allowing the fetus to move its head.

-The diaphragm has developed and is able to move.

-The placenta is now circulating food and waste and will continue to grow larger as the pregnancy progresses.

-The ovaries or testes are starting to develop.

I'll post a 'belly' pic next week. ☺ Til' next time, TTYL peeps!

10 weeks

We're 10 weeks today and today is the last day for my PIO injections!! WOOHOO!!!

Here's a quick rundown of what's going on this week:

How I'm feeling: I'm still pretty nauseated and these past few days I have had more vomiting than days prior. (Sorry if TMI) I sure hope that doesn't mean this all day sickness will last past the 1st trimester! I'm also pretty exhausted most days; I come home from work and crash! I'm very lucky to have such a great hubby, kids and family; they've been taking up ALL of my slack. I seriously owe them!

What I eat: At this point I base my "meals" off of what won't taste gross when it comes back up. Pitiful, I know. Some days I feel like I can eat any and everything, then others I feel like I can barely choke down a cracker. I've been eating a lot of small meals throughout the day since my stomach can't seem to handle a "regular" meal. Mostly eating fresh fruit, crackers, oatmeal, toast, & rice. My cravings seem to change weekly...I was all about applesauce for a while, then it was fudge BombPops, and now all I want is Haagen-Dazs strawberry or raspberry sorbet! Oh, and spaghetti....I've really been craving spaghetti!

Baby stats (according to the web):
-The yolk sac will not be needed going forward as the placenta takes over.

-The placenta is now fully developed and will be the baby's lifeline going forward.

-The ears have formed the outer portion but still need to move upward into their final position.

-The umbilical cord exchanges blood between the placenta and the baby.

-The wrists are now able to bend.

-The fingers & toes have grown and separated.

-The intestines are developing at the base of the umbilical cord.
Week 10 baby embryo size strawberry
Embryo Size
Baby is about the size of a strawberry during week 10.

LENGTH: 1.20 in / 3 cm
WEIGHT: 0.13 oz / 3.7 g

We have an ultrasound on Friday morning and I should be released to go to my regular OB after that. I'll keep you updated and hopefully have a new pic to post of the lil' peanut.

TTYL!

Say hello to my little friend...

I like to call him "Chum Bucket". He has saved the interior of my newly shampooed car numerous times and for that, I love Mr. Chum. I also love Kevin for purchasing, said, Mr. Chum for the car and also one for the bedside...Kev is the best husband...you know it's true love when he buys you TWO puke buckets!

Anywho, we had another sonogram on Tuesday...when I got there the receptionist said "oh your appointment is tomorrow". Say what?! I don't know where the communication went awry, but I had even confirmed my appointment for Tuesday so I just told her we'd wait anyway (and hoped it wouldn't be too long).
Y'all...I kid you not, this lady that came and sat RIGHT next to me....smelled like 57 cats. I seriously almost puked...Mr. Chum was nowhere in sight and I didn't know how much longer I could hold it. The waiting room was full. No. More. Seats.....
Then, just in time, my IPs arrived and at the same time people were being called back, which freed up 3 seats... Thank you sweet baby Jesus! Needless to say I moved to sit by my IPs...(and to secretly get away from cat lady).
We didn't have to wait too long, about 30 minutes and then we got to see the precious "peanut".
He/She was visibly bigger already! It was pretty cool to see! Of course, my IPs were amazed, as was I. Heart rate was a strong 157 and baby is measuring 1 day ahead. YAY! I always get nervous before sonograms, don't know why, but I'm pleased to say all is well. ☺♥
We will have another u/s on the 18th, I'll be 10w3d and then I'll be released to my regular doctor!

In other very exciting news....... my last shot is on the 15th!!!!!!! 12 more days...Woop woop!! My rear will be very happy and I know Kevin will be too; he doesn't like giving the shots...I'd like to give him a shot every night to see if he likes that better. ☺

That's all I've got for now peeps! I'll keep ya updated.

P.S. Happy 8 weeks to us!! ☺♥

Follow-up

Everything is GOOD!!!! ☺

Went for my follow-up on Monday, after Saturday's scare, and everything looked just fine. Whew! The little bean is measuring right on track and the heart rate was 127 bpm. Such a HUGE sigh of relief after that appointment! I talked to my IM after the appointment and could hear the relief in her voice; I was so glad I could call and give her good news!
The part that's a little bothersome, at least to me anyway, is that there's no real reason for the bleeding. No straight answer, just "this is common in IVF"...that really sucks, but I guess the silver lining is that it's not uncommon and other women have gone through it and continued on with a healthy pregnancy.

So anywho, we're 7 weeks now!! ☺ I'm still nauseous, but it's nowhere near as bad as it was in the past, so it's a bit easier to manage. The Reglan (nausea/vomiting med) that the Dr gave me doesn't seem to help, just makes me super sleepy so I only take it a night now. I took it during the day on Monday and damn near hit my head on the keyboard at work from falling asleep! (Oops!)

Here's the deets on the little one this week:

Pregnancy Month 2 Photo This week baby is undergoing some extraordinary changes and developments. The head, heart, spinal cord, and some of the larger blood vessels begin to form. As these blood vessels form, the heart begins to pump fluid through them, and your baby's first red blood cells are created. Baby is about 7 - 9 mm or 0.27 - 0.35 inches in length, (approximately the size of a grain of rice), and weighs about 1/30 of an ounce - less than a breath mint. Baby's brain, bladder, tongue and esophagus are all developing and transforming, while his eyes are moving to the front of the face and his tiny eyelids are forming. The bones of his tiny limbs have started to form and all of your baby's major organs - heart, intestines, kidneys, liver, lungs and pancreas -- are forming and growing. In fact, your baby actually goes through 3 sets of kidneys during development with this week's development, being the second set.
Both the hand plates and the genital tubercle are present this week, but you can't tell whether it's a boy or a girl by sight at this point. Nasal pits are also forming. In your womb, your baby has already become active swimming around inside the amniotic sac and kicking. However, as he's much too small and well-cushioned by the uterus and the new amniotic fluid you won't be able to feel him yet. But don't worry. In a few months you'll be able to feel him constantly.

This time next year M&P will have a 19 week old baby! Time flies! ☺

Smiles & Scares

Friday's ultrasound went great! We saw one gestational sac and we got to see AND hear the heartbeat! Heart rate was 115 bpm and the little bean was measuring 6w4d (about 2 days ahead).
My IPs were so excited!! We all were!
Fast forward to the next day (Saturday)...I was taking Kourtlyn to get her hair cut and I felt a gush...I looked down and noticed blood. No bueno.
Thankfully we were about a block from the hospital so we turned around and went straight there.
At the hospital, they started an IV on me, took some blood and urine samples and did another ultrasound. I was losing quite a bit of blood at this point too. It was very scary having all this going on and not having any answers.
The ultrasound and bloodwork came back fine; baby still had heartbeat (114 bpm) and was still measuring 6w4d. One test did come back showing that I have a  UTI so they gave me an antibiotic for that. The part that sucks though is not knowing...they couldn't give me a straight answer as to why I started bleeding all of a sudden. They just said that I need to follow up with my doctor. :( So I've been in the bed (literally) for the past 2 days, just taking it easy. I'll be calling the clinic tomorrow to try to get in for another sonogram and beta sometime during the week. I hate this feeling. And I hate for my IPs to be worried...why can't everything just go smoothly??!!
Please pray that everything will be okay at the follow up. I will keep you updated and thank you all for your encouraging words throughout this process, it really means a lot.

Xoxo

Like clockwork...

...hit the 6 week mark yesterday and BAM, upchuck time! :\ I've been feeling queasy the past couple days, but that was the extent of it until last night. That veggie sandwich didn't stand a chance staying down (nice visual, right?)...I'd hate for y'all to feel left out ☺
I've been drinking ginger tea, but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick anymore. The nausea gets worse in the evenings...Honestly, there's probably not much that will actually help at this point, since I get hyperemesis gravidarum. :-( I'm hoping that the sickness won't be so extreme this time, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

On a happier note, we have our 1st sonogram tomorrow @ 4:15 and we are all very excited!! (Hopefully I don't puke!) ☺ I'll keep ya updated.

Final beta results

Can't believe I forgot to post! (My bad)
We got our final beta results on Thursday:

17dp6dt - 4043
10dp - 191
8dp - 87

Looking good!! Our 1st ultrasound is this Friday the 20th at 4pm...so excited!!! And I promise to update sooner :)

Started feeling a little queasy today, but my IM gave me a recipe for ginger tea that I'm gonna try and hopefully that will help. *Keeping my fingers crossed*

My ASS hurts!

Like for real...

I've done all the "tricks"...ice, heat, rubbing, praying to sweet baby Jesus! Nothing works anymore!!! I can't sleep comfortably and I'd rather use a 'Hover 'Round' than walk. And there's still 5 more weeks of this shit!?!?! Hell to the no!

Ok, I'm done.

Have a Sunshine Day!

Beta #2

Decided to go to a different lab this morning since Tuesday's lab person was apparently not the brightest in running the proper test...

Maybe not such a great idea...from the time I walked in, it was pretty much downhill. It was crowded, had to wait 45 minutes, the receptionist apparently didn't understand who to charge the labs to so she had to call the Dr's office to double-check, then when I finally get called back, the phlebotomist (we'll call her Shanaynay) didn't understand what kind of labs I needed to have run. Lawd Jevus!
I had to walk her through... "ok, Tuesday your company ran the wrong test, but today I need you to run a QUANTITATIVE HCG on me".....Her response "Ooooohhh....ok....I'm in da wrong screen den, lemme get outta dis"  *insert mean thoughts here*
Then she says, "well, da orders don't tell me how much blood to draw so imma just do 2 vials" Whatever. Better safe than sorry at this point. At least I can say she did a good job in not making me her human pin cushion. (see...always a silver lining :\ )

So anywho, after that mess I went to work and thank the heavens I didn't have to wait until midnight to get results this time! Clinic called at 1:30 and my beta is 191 today! Quick recap: 1st beta was 87, on Tuesday so today's is a little more than doubled and that's GREAT news! (PS I'm 10dpt)

Our next beta will be next Thursday Sept 12th and the ultrasound will be around the 20th! (I'll be 6w4d preggo then) ☺

I'm so excited for my IPs!!!!!

TTYL!

The wait is over!

....or so we thought!
Waited all day for beta results yesterday, got a call at 5:30 just to say the lab ran the wrong fkn test! They ran a qualitative (which just tells you yes or no, if you're pregnant) instead of a quantitative, which gives you your 'beta number'. The nurse said "we at least know you're pregnant", but she was pissed.

*Silver lining* I got to at least tell my IM that they are gonna be parents! She was silent at first and then started crying (happy tears, of course). So YAY!!!! I'm preggo and my IPs will be better known as Mommy & Daddy soon! ♥ ☺

The lab had to rerun my blood from yesterday, today, and the clinic called me around 3pm and said my beta was 87! That's a great number considering I was a few hours shy of 8dpt! I will go for a repeat beta tomorrow, so keep your fingers crossed that the number continues to increase!

On another note, I'm still feeling crampy and it's kinda bothersome! I think it may be a side effect from the PIO shots?? I'm also having lower back pain...I'll be so glad when these shots are over, my ass is so sore!! I can barely walk without a limp and it's nearly impossible to sleep on my side these days. All for a good cause though, so I'll take it! ☺

See ya tomorrow, peeps!

Transfer day!!

...and now we wait! The absolutely longest wait EVER!! Ok, maybe it's only 1 week, but seriously it draaaaaaggggssss.
Anywho here are the transfer deets:
Once we were all prepped the Dr let us know that 12 embryos made it to day 5 and of those 12 that were tested, 7 of them were "normal". There were 2 boys and 5 girls. My IPs and the doctor all agreed to transfer the best ones, which was one boy and 1 girl embie. So they took me back to the transfer room and got me ready. (This included filling my bladder because it apparently wasn't full enough) FML. That was sooo uncomfortable! They were filling my bladder while pressing down on it with an ultrasound wand at the same time...not cool. I was sure that I was gonna pee on the doctor :\.
After that ordeal, my IPs and hubby came back to the room to watch the transfer. It went perfectly and super quick! I could tell that my IPs were excited, nervous and hopeful all at the same time; after the transfer we went back to another room so that I could lie down for 20 minutes (reminder: bladder is BEYOND full!!) The nurse offered a bedpan but that was not about to happen! I'm so glad I had company to keep my mind occupied or I might have caved for the bedpan. After the 20 minutes, I pretty much ran to the bathroom (never been so happy to see a toilet in my life), we took some pics and said our "see ya laters" then went on our merry way. :-)

I've had a little bit of cramping today which I've been told could be a good sign of implantation. Lets hope so!

Beta will be on Sept 3rd!!! Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers!
Here are a few pics from the big day :)

Kev wore green for good luck too! (So did IM)
Ready to get'er done!!
Cropped out IPs for their privacy, but look at those beautiful embies!! :) *The nurse took this crappy pic, btw* Geez, don't they teach photography in nursing school??

TTYL peeps! (PS. I will prob POAS, but I think my IPs read my blog so I won't post until after beta ;)
