34 weeks!!

Day 50 of bedrest...or maybe I should say day 49 since I did get a "1 day pass" from my Dr so that I could attend my IP's baby shower. Boy, was that appreciated! I had so much fun!! It was one of the most unique baby shower's I've ever been to; it was tailgate themed and was on a boat! More like a party than a lame "wrap toilet paper around the preggo person" shower, lol. I enjoyed getting out of the house, but I most enjoyed getting to meet my IP's friends; everyone was sooo nice and you could tell that they were all genuinely happy for M&M. I can't even tell you how many tears of happiness were shed, lol. (Especially when my IM got to feel Baby L kick for the 1st time!) I could talk about it for days, but I think you catch my drift. It was fun. ☺

On another note, my Dr appointment on Monday went very well! Cervix measured 3.8, no funneling, baby is still head down and weighing about 4lbs 7oz. And the Dr informed me that it was my last cervical check, yay!! I kinda griped about him putting me on bedrest when all of my appointments have been okay, but he said "better safe than sorry", so I guess I can't argue with him on that. He still wants me to stay on bedrest, but now I can at least see the light at the end of the tunnel since he said he'll take me off @ 36 weeks. So the countdown begins! ☺ The funny thing is that I'm not even sure what I'll do when I do get off of bedrest cuz it's not like I'm going back to work for 3 weeks, just to be off for another 6. I'll probably still lay around the house, but hey, it's the principle of the thing!

Here's the scoop on the baby this week:
Baby's now the size of a honeydew!

He can recognize and react to simple songs. In fact, he will recognize frequently sung tunes after birth and probably find them soothing. (Yay! Maybe Baby L will recognize the songs that he hears Mommy & Daddy sing on the Lullabelly!) Less cute news: He now urinates about one pint per day. Get the diapers ready! 


Here's my 34 week belly pic! *Only 5 more of these to go!* My IPs just left for their well deserved "babymoon" this morning, so Baby L has no choice but to stay put!

33 weeks!!

6 weeks to go!! (Day 43 of bedrest)
Yesterday's appointment went well. Cervix was 2.9, which is good; no funneling and baby is still head down, yay! My weight was up 4 lbs from 2 weeks ago, ugh! But I'm gonna blame some of that on Baby L (and not the blueberry muffins my hubby stocked me up on) ☺Baby L is weighing about 4lbs 4ozs! Any guesses on how much you think he'll weigh when he's born? Let's see...2 weeks ago he was at 3.1, so he gained 1.3 in 2 weeks. If he keeps that up he should be about 8lbs 3oz when he's born, so that's my guess, lol. Dang, that's a big ol' baby!

Guess what? No, I'm not off of bedrest, don't get too excited. BUT my Dr did say that he will allow me to go to my IP's baby shower!! You have no idea how excited I am about that! It's like I got a "get out of jail free" card! (as Tonya would say ☺) It's this Saturday and I cannot wait! My IPs live a few hours away, so my mom is gonna drive me there and I'll just be chillaxin with my seat back on the passenger side. ☺ I'll definitely tell you guys all about it when I get back!

Anywho, here's the scoop on the baby this week:
This week baby weighs a little over 4 pounds and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look (thank goodness ☺) and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.--- but not this baby, cuz he's gonna be perfect ♥) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

Hey! On a totally seperate note, do you like the new background and pics on the blog? No, really, do you?  I'm not sure if I'm a fan of it yet or not...
But I am happy that I can now share pics of my IPs!!

Aren't they so cute!!?! ☺♥ And Baby L is gonna make a perfect addition to their family!

32 weeks!

Day 36 of bedrest and we're getting closer! *Only* 49 more days, ugh! But seriously, can someone spring me outta this joint?? I'm so over it! Don't get me wrong, I know this is the best thing for Baby L, but geez louise I'm tired of feeling so isolated from the world. Oh and by the way, to people that call or text me....please don't ask me "what are you doing?" What the hell do you think I'm doing, having a friggin' keg party?! I'm in the bed, most likely in the same spot that you left me in 2 weeks ago and probably playing 'Words with Friends'. (Sorry for bitching, it's just one of those days)

*PS* Is there such a thing as a mobile pedicure service? If so, please send it my way. Thanks.

So anyway, enough of that. We're 32 weeks today (yay!) and here's what's going on with Baby L this week:

By now, baby weighs about 3.75 pounds and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in the uterus. I'm gaining about a pound a week (noooo!) and roughly half of that goes right to the baby. In fact, he'll gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next 7 weeks as he fattens up for survival outside the womb. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). His skin is becoming soft and smooth as he plumps up in preparation for birth.


Other than being bored, I'm doing well and haven't been having any contractions, so yay! I'll update again after my appointment next week. Maybe I won't be so grumpy, but don't bet on it. :) TTYL!

31 weeks!

Another week down! 8 more to go...I tried to figure out a way to make it seem like it's not *that* much longer, like instead of saying 8 more weeks, maybe only 56 days? Or only 2 months? Yea...but it's still a long a** time to be on bedrest, lol. Oh well, each day that passes is one more day that the baby gets to grow stronger and that's what matters.
My appointment yesterday went well. My cervix measured 2.8, which is shorter than 2 weeks ago, but still longer than when I was first placed on bedrest so I'm happy with that. The Dr didn't seem to be concerned either; as long as it stays above 2.5 there's less of a chance of pre-term labor.
Baby L is now weighing approximately 3 lbs 1oz, up 9ozs from 2 weeks ago! And guess what? He turned head down! YAY! Now he just needs to stay like that! I can tell he's getting bigger from the kicks and punches he's giving me, they're not so small anymore, lol.
As for me, I'm still bored. :) I mean, there's only so much TV watching and magazine reading a person can do! On Netflix I got addicted to the show 'Weeds' but it stopped at the end of season 5 and now I'm scouring the internet to find seasons 6 and 7 to watch! (Anyone know where I can illegally watch TV shows online? :) ) By the way Netflix, get up to date! Seriously. So frustrating. I also have come to enjoy 'Mad Men', but my husband has gotten hooked on it too and doesn't want me to watch it without him, lol, so I'm stalled out on episode 13 for now...at least all the episodes are available for this one, but it doesn't come back on the air until "early 2012" according to AMC's website! (Yes, I look these things up...it's not like I have anything else to do) So...any show suggestions once I get done with Mad Men? :) I heard Dexter might be a good one...
Anywho, my next appointment is on Sept. 20th and hopefully all will be well at that one too. I'll leave ya with my 31 week pic. TTYL peeps!
