Baby apricot

Happy 11 weeks!

Week 11 baby fetus size apricot
Fetus Size
Baby is about the size of a apricot during week 11.

LENGTH: 1.7 in / 4.3 cm
WEIGHT: 0.28 oz / 7.9 g

I'm sorry I forgot to update after our ultrasound on Friday! Won't happen again...maybe ☺
Anywho, all was well at the appointment. The little bean apricot was moving all around, it was so cool to see! What was even better was seeing the parent's reaction to watching their little one move around...No matter how many times I see an u/s, it's always like the first time, there's just something so awesome about them. It's a little bit of reassurance that everything is okay mixed with the awesomeness of a sneak peak of the amazing miracle that will be physically in mom & dad's arms soon.
I didn't get a pic this time, but there was a big difference from just 2 weeks ago when it looked like a little gummy bear...this time baby actually looked like a tiny human ☺ I was released to go to my regular OB now, woohoo! (This is a big milestone in surrogacy!) I'll see him in about 2-3 weeks...it's tricky getting an appointment that coordinates with both my and my IPs schedules, but we're making it work; I'm glad that they will be attending appointments with me.

Quick stats:

How I'm feeling: Same ol' same ol'...still puketastic and hoping to see the light at the end of that tunnel very soon!
It's also time to get some maternity clothes...so soon, I know. Whatevs.

What I eat: Anything that stays down! Fruit is starting to make me more & more queasy, so I stay away from it for now. Except applesauce, I love it...does that count as fruit?

Baby stats:

-The ears have started to move upward into their final position.

-The eyelids have been developing and are currently sealed closed. They will stay like this tell about the 26th week.

-The neck is lengthening allowing the fetus to move its head.

-The diaphragm has developed and is able to move.

-The placenta is now circulating food and waste and will continue to grow larger as the pregnancy progresses.

-The ovaries or testes are starting to develop.

I'll post a 'belly' pic next week. ☺ Til' next time, TTYL peeps!

10 weeks

We're 10 weeks today and today is the last day for my PIO injections!! WOOHOO!!!

Here's a quick rundown of what's going on this week:

How I'm feeling: I'm still pretty nauseated and these past few days I have had more vomiting than days prior. (Sorry if TMI) I sure hope that doesn't mean this all day sickness will last past the 1st trimester! I'm also pretty exhausted most days; I come home from work and crash! I'm very lucky to have such a great hubby, kids and family; they've been taking up ALL of my slack. I seriously owe them!

What I eat: At this point I base my "meals" off of what won't taste gross when it comes back up. Pitiful, I know. Some days I feel like I can eat any and everything, then others I feel like I can barely choke down a cracker. I've been eating a lot of small meals throughout the day since my stomach can't seem to handle a "regular" meal. Mostly eating fresh fruit, crackers, oatmeal, toast, & rice. My cravings seem to change weekly...I was all about applesauce for a while, then it was fudge BombPops, and now all I want is Haagen-Dazs strawberry or raspberry sorbet! Oh, and spaghetti....I've really been craving spaghetti!

Baby stats (according to the web):
-The yolk sac will not be needed going forward as the placenta takes over.

-The placenta is now fully developed and will be the baby's lifeline going forward.

-The ears have formed the outer portion but still need to move upward into their final position.

-The umbilical cord exchanges blood between the placenta and the baby.

-The wrists are now able to bend.

-The fingers & toes have grown and separated.

-The intestines are developing at the base of the umbilical cord.
Week 10 baby embryo size strawberry
Embryo Size
Baby is about the size of a strawberry during week 10.

LENGTH: 1.20 in / 3 cm
WEIGHT: 0.13 oz / 3.7 g

We have an ultrasound on Friday morning and I should be released to go to my regular OB after that. I'll keep you updated and hopefully have a new pic to post of the lil' peanut.

Say hello to my little friend...

I like to call him "Chum Bucket". He has saved the interior of my newly shampooed car numerous times and for that, I love Mr. Chum. I also love Kevin for purchasing, said, Mr. Chum for the car and also one for the bedside...Kev is the best husband...you know it's true love when he buys you TWO puke buckets!

Anywho, we had another sonogram on Tuesday...when I got there the receptionist said "oh your appointment is tomorrow". Say what?! I don't know where the communication went awry, but I had even confirmed my appointment for Tuesday so I just told her we'd wait anyway (and hoped it wouldn't be too long).
Y'all...I kid you not, this lady that came and sat RIGHT next to me....smelled like 57 cats. I seriously almost puked...Mr. Chum was nowhere in sight and I didn't know how much longer I could hold it. The waiting room was full. No. More. Seats.....
Then, just in time, my IPs arrived and at the same time people were being called back, which freed up 3 seats... Thank you sweet baby Jesus! Needless to say I moved to sit by my IPs...(and to secretly get away from cat lady).
We didn't have to wait too long, about 30 minutes and then we got to see the precious "peanut".
He/She was visibly bigger already! It was pretty cool to see! Of course, my IPs were amazed, as was I. Heart rate was a strong 157 and baby is measuring 1 day ahead. YAY! I always get nervous before sonograms, don't know why, but I'm pleased to say all is well. ☺♥
We will have another u/s on the 18th, I'll be 10w3d and then I'll be released to my regular doctor!

In other very exciting news....... my last shot is on the 15th!!!!!!! 12 more days...Woop woop!! My rear will be very happy and I know Kevin will be too; he doesn't like giving the shots...I'd like to give him a shot every night to see if he likes that better. ☺

That's all I've got for now peeps! I'll keep ya updated.

P.S. Happy 8 weeks to us!! ☺♥
